Sealed VRLA Energy Storage for Institutional UPS Systems
Exide Powersafe Plus Battery
is part of Exide’s institutional UPS battery
portfolio and is designed around sealed VRLA
energy-storage technology.
The principal EP model range covers eight
12V batteries from 26Ah through 200Ah at the
C20 rating.
Positive and negative plates use a
lead-tin-calcium alloy, while low-resistance
microporous glass-fibre separators retain the
electrolyte within the battery.
This absorbed-electrolyte architecture creates
a non-spillable sealed battery format suited to
compatible UPS equipment and compact battery
arrangements.
Self-regulating pressure-relief valves form part
of the VRLA construction and manage internal
gas pressure during battery operation.
Low self-discharge helps retain stored capacity
during standby periods, while strong recovery
characteristics assist recharge following
battery discharge.
High-rate discharge behaviour allows the range
to deliver substantial output for compatible UPS
loads over shorter backup periods.
Model-specific flag and bolt-on terminal options
are used across the principal EP range to meet
